Driving Directions to Fort Plain:

From Albany and points East (the 1 hour scenic and quick toll-free route):
1. Take Route 20 (Western Ave) West past a series of towns: Duanesburg, Esperance, Carlisle, and Sharon Springs. Once you hit Sharon Springs, make a right onto route 10 North.  Take Route 10 all the way to route 5S.  You will drive through several towns including Sharon Springs, Ames, and Canajoharie.  Once in Canajoharie, make a left onto Route 5S, then go straight 2 miles.  Route 5S will become Canal Street.  And there you are...

 

From Utica and Points West: (45 min)
1. Take Route 5S East toward Fort Plain.  Route 5S becomes Canal Street once in Fort Plain.  We are on the left side of the street, next to Linda's Thrift Store and Doerers Jewelry.  
From Massachusetts (about 3 hours):
1. Take Route 23 West from Great Barrington until you hit Route 30
2. Take Route 30 North to Route 5S West.  Route 5S becomes Canal Street, once you get to Fort Plain.  

From Montreal:

Go South toward Albany, then take directions above.

From New York City:
Take the 87 North or Route 9A North or Route 9 North to Albany (2 1/2 -3 hours)

Using Local Public Transportation:  

The Max Express Bus is available Monday through Friday. Departures from St. Johnsville, Palatine Bridge, Canajoharie, Fultonville, Fonda, Fort Johnson, and Amsterdam will bring you to Fort Plain.
