Mauritanian French director Med Hondo’s West Indies: The Fugitive Slaves of Liberty proved a watershed event for African cinema— one of the continent’s first musicals as well as an amalgam of historical epic, Broadway revue, Brechtian theater, and joyous agitprop.

About the event

This event is a part of Art House Cinema Day.  The Screening of Med Hondo's epic film, The West Indies: Fugitive Slave of Liberty will be preceded buy the screening of two trailers for films Image Quilt Productions is producing, "L'Amant Anonyme" (The Anonymous Lover) and "Emancipado", both set in the Caribbean.
